Simon Pagenaud's very good dog is campaigning for ESPYs votes
Simon Pagenaud is the only IndyCar driver nominated in the ESPY Awards best driver category, and his campaign to gather as many votes as possible before Wednesday's ceremony is led by his Jack Russell Terrier, Norman.
Hilariously serving as the driver's campaign manager, Norman is using his social media accounts to lobby for his human, the reigning IndyCar Series champ. The competition is steep as Pagenaud is up against seven-time NASCAR Cup Series winner Jimmie Johnson, NASCAR driver Martin Truex Jr., Formula One's Lewis Hamilton and drag racer Ron Capps.
But Norman is giving the campaign everything he's got, hanging out at race tracks, passing out "I VOTED TODAY" stickers and recruiting other IndyCar drivers for the cause.
Norman even got the Butler Bulldog's support too.
Pagenaud told IndyCar last week he's honored to be nominated, and even though Norman won't be attending the ceremony with the French driver, he's grateful for the canine's help, calling him "a magnet for votes."
"He's actually becoming more busy than I am. We had to change our flight to make sure he could do his PR appearance on Thursday, which is crazy if you think about it. But he's getting a lot of demands, and we're starting to say no. But we're hoping for sponsorships."
Pagenaud also made a funny plea of his own for fan votes.
"If you do vote for me, Norman's gonna kiss you, and that's really sweet. You can't miss that."
